Boiler Installation
Gas boiler installation in Carshalton and Sutton, quoted after we have seen the house and the heating system.
A new gas boiler is a quoted job, not a package picked from a list. MTEX Services installs domestic gas boilers in Carshalton, Sutton, Wallington and the nearby districts. We look at the house, the hot water, the radiators and the flue before we say what should go in. There is no price on this page, because the figure depends on the boiler and the system. Gas work is done under Gas Safe registration 618835.
The usual choice in a terrace in Carshalton (SM5) or Wallington (SM6) is a combination boiler. There is rarely a cupboard for a cylinder, and the hot water is made as you use it. That suits a small household. It is a poor fit if you want two showers at once. A larger semi in Sutton, Belmont or Cheam, or a house in Woodcote, is more likely to want a system boiler or a regular boiler with a cylinder, so there is stored hot water. We say which we think fits, and why, rather than fitting the same boiler in every house.
Many of these homes have been extended. The boiler that heated a 1930s semi is now expected to heat a kitchen extension and a loft room as well. Replacing it with the same output does not fix cold radiators at the far end if the pipes were never altered. We look at that before the quote. Hard water matters too. Scale from Sutton’s water wrecks the hot-water plate on a combi that is already tired, and a new boiler on a filthy system will not stay clean by itself. If the system needs cleaning, that is part of the conversation, not a surprise halfway through the day.
A straightforward swap, with the new boiler near the old one and the same type of system, is a shorter job. Changing from a tank and cylinder to a combi, or moving the boiler, takes longer and costs more. We say which it is before we book the day. The old boiler comes out as part of the work we have quoted. What that includes is written in the quote, not assumed.
A new gas boiler does not qualify for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. The grant is for a heat pump, not for a like-for-like gas replacement. If the house has room for a cylinder and for an outdoor unit, an air source heat pump is worth discussing. If it does not, a gas boiler is the honest answer. The grant rules are on the Boiler Upgrade Scheme page. MTEX is not MCS-certified. Heat pump certification, where a heat pump is the right job, is handled by an MCS umbrella scheme. A gas boiler installation is Gas Safe work, not MCS work.
After the boiler is in, it needs an annual boiler service. Landlords also need a landlord gas safety certificate each year. Those are separate visits. If the heating fails later, the emergency call-out covers a breakdown. Installation itself is booked in office hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, and Saturday, 9am to 1pm.
We install in the London Borough of Sutton and in the other south London areas on areas we cover, and in nearby Surrey towns such as Banstead and Epsom. Call 020 3411 0240 or email info@mtexservices.co.uk and we will arrange to see the house.

Questions we are often asked
How much is a new boiler?
We quote after seeing the house. The price depends on the boiler, whether the system type is changing, and what the pipework and radiators need. There is no single figure on this page.
Can I get the £7,500 grant for a new gas boiler?
No. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme does not pay for a gas boiler. It can contribute towards an air source heat pump where the house is suitable and the installation is MCS-certified. MTEX is not MCS-certified. An MCS umbrella scheme handles that certification when a heat pump is the job.
How long does the installation take?
A straight swap is often a shorter day. Moving the boiler, or changing from a cylinder system to a combi, takes longer. We tell you which it is before the day is booked.
Who is allowed to fit a gas boiler?
A Gas Safe registered engineer. Our registration number is 618835. You can check it on the Gas Safe Register.
